Who are you?
Jouni Kankaanpää, a man from Raisio who turns 60 years old this year. In addition I have studied or worked in Rovaniemi, Kuopio and Helsinki. My family includes unmarried partner Reetta and five year old son Kaapo. Also, I have two adult children and two granddaughters.
During my 40-year old professional career I’ve worked as an entrepreneur or employee in hotel and restaurant business, sales and marketing of services, and in sports marketing. I’ve been responsible for marketing of the Cumulus hotel chain and served as the Operational Director of the Moomin World.
What does your company do?
We run a family-owned hotel in the center of Naantali. Hotel Palo is a cosy wooden house hotel, which has 14 rooms for 2-4 persons. All rooms have a private toilet, shower and TV. The hotel has free Wi-Fi.
Our service philosophy I borrowed from a London hotel Claridge’s top experienced and all seen Porter: “I serve the Queen of England as well as our usual customers”.
Tell us about your clients and other key shareholders / partners?
During the summer season, our hotel clientele mainly consists of holiday travellers. During the rest of the year we offer accommodation and breakfast services especially for people travelling for work. This includes foreign representatives of marine industry companies.
